The Israeli Children's Museum-Holon

Unlike other children's museums that allow free movement and hands-on play, visitors to the Israeli Children Museum-Holon participate in a structured experience led by a guide who engages with the children on a thematic adventure with the child as an active actor. The museum also directly addresses disabilities, communication, and human emotions. There are different journeys for different age groups, starting from age 2. The museum also features two world-renowned exhibits "Dialogue in the Dark” and "Invitation to Silence," and these tours are suitable for adults with or without children.

Then you are sure to love my two new books "In and Around Jerusalem for Everyone - The Best Walks, Hikes and Outdoor Pools" and "The Struggle for Utopia - A History of Jewish, Christian and Islamic Messianism". Both books are available on Amazon and in Jerusalem bookstores. Click on each of the titles for information, reviews and purchase information.

Tours offered are the following: “Following Butterflies” and “A Trip with Yanshul” for ages 2.5 to 4, “The Kingdom of Time” for ages 3 to 7, “The Magical Forest for ages 6 to 8, “The Aliens” for ages 8 to 11 years, “The Beatles – Mystery Tour” for adults and children over the age of 5 years, and “Dialogue with Time” for those over the age of 10. Details about each of these tours are available on their website:

Hebrew tours open regularly. English tours open when requested depending on the availability of English-speaking guides

“Dialogue in the Dark” provides visitors with an insight into the world of the blind. The guides, who themselves are either visually impaired or completely blind, open visitors’ eyes to the world of the blind. Visitors go through a park, street and shuk in absolute darkness. At the end of the visit, they gather for a conversation (still held in the dark), with their blind guide. The conversation deals with issues such as disability, coping, senses, and life in general. The museum, which employs some 30 blind guides, is the largest employer of blind people in Israel. The tour is open to groups and families age 9 years and above. Also, to adults without children! Tours can be in English, depending on the availability of English-speaking guides.

“Invitation to Silence” is an unusual communication journey guided by the deaf. In this exhibition, one hears nothing, yet the talking doesn’t cease. One learns that you can hear through your eyes, and speak using your hands. Visitors discover a new way of communicating, through hand movements and body language. The deaf guides, for whom sign language is their main, and sometimes only, communication channel, help visitors discover the non-verbal communication skills that we all have. This exhibition is a unique opportunity for a dialogue between hearing and deaf people, helping visitors break through emotional barriers, prejudices and stereotypes. It is open to groups and families age 9 years and above. Also, to adults without children! Tours can be in English, depending on the availability of English-speaking guides.
